Ancient Tomb Painting Alive in Brooklyn, NY, USA! - Reflexology Has Come a Long Way Like Yoga!

 "live" tomb painting
- If you are a reflexologist, please, take a close look.  I'd like to think the reflexes worked on area the pituitary gland reflexes (more or less in the center of the thumb/toe prints).

Here is more info about the painting
- Speaking of which, "do not let it by painful," that is, if you have ever had a reflexology session, you may know that some areas might be sensitive, depending on the health of your feet, genetics, your general health, etc.

LV Chair Yoga, the "Louis Vuitton" of Chair Yoga.

Howie, Tracey, Melinda, myself, and Lakshmi (from L)
A friend of mine who used to work for LV jokingly asked if LV Chair Yoga stands for Louis Vuitton Chair Yoga?  Yes! I do think it is an amazing program, however it is accessible to anyone unlike authentic LV merchandise!

Returning to Kripalu (in May) assisting at the Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga (LVCY) Teacher Training was even more enriching than the first time, now that I knew my way around the building.  I am part of a team that is making yoga accessible to anyone, no more excuses, seriously.  I still hear too often how some people are too stiff and how they can not focus or balance.

Another Training will take place August 20-23, 2013, at the New York Open Center:

Students are sitting on a chair, nevertheless, if it is within ability,

Spring Magic/There IS a Perfect Chi Gong Spot in Central Park

Chess and Checkers House, Central Park
Last spring, I started my morning outdoors chi gong practice (and often added LV Chair Yoga) on the South side of Central Park; I practiced outside until November and even on mild winter days.  It was a very gratifying experience.
At first I had settled in on the pretty hill by the bridge,  then by the benches on the east side of the ball field; ideally I wanted to face the morning sun.  After a while there was just too much going on.  A group of dog owners started congregating there after their walks, and it also turned into tourist central.  From then on, I kind of just moved around and went with the flow and at times I just practiced at home or at the river later during the day if my schedule allowed it or at night.  It did not matter.  I realized there was no perfect spot.

About Yoga and Digging - Holiday Weekend!

one day after full moon
Yoga (practicing asanas) has been on my mind all the time (it has been keeping me sane often and for those instances when I lost it, it often has helped me bounce back.  When I am off, it is an absolute priority.  It was my intention to practice every day during the Memorial Day weekend.  Well that did not materialize, or maybe it did.

Hiking at the amazing Raymondskill Water Falls never fails to put me into the best of moods.  We stopped for this hike as we so often do.  The falls were bigger than I had ever seen them before due to extensive rain falls, and guess what, walking up away from the falls there were two white water rafters.

Welcoming the Year of the Snake for Well Being

I bought this snake on Canal Street

The parade celebrating the Chinese New Lunar Year of the Water Snake started at 1pm on February 17, a very chilly but sunny day.   Some of the spectators were still leaving the area and headed to the subways on Canal Street when I got there and the clean up efforts were under way.  I had the narrow Chinatown streets (Pell and Bayard) almost to myself at that point.  I am sharing a few photos here.  Unfortunately, there were no dragon or lion dancers around (I can't get enough of them) and no confetti rockets went off.  I bought some to support the local economy but have not used them yet.  When I got home I found some unused ones from last year as well ;-), so I am now in the possession of five confetti rockets!  Now we just need an occasion.  The problem is that they create a big mess.  We may have to wait for another parade ;-), St. Patty's is probably next, just kidding.

Garlic, Honey, and Kombucha/NY and VT

finely chopped garlic and honey
  • Garlic
One morning about about two weeks ago I woke up sniffly and was then getting very cold during the morning walk with Mowgli.  Thus I decided to have some garlic, minced with honey to make eating it easier.  I had some more the day afterward, and after consulting with an acupuncturist friend, I decided to continue for a third day.  Doing my best to keep the flu at bay this year.  It seems to be a very bad season.  Hopefully nobody has been offended by my new scent.

YUM: Extensive Relaxation BEFORE the end of the Year.

Time for yoga plus I thought, in preparation for the Annual Polar Bear Plunge two days later.  The plus entailing going way beyond asanas, namely, using one of my singing bowls, dumbbells, a golf ball (for hand reflexology), my selenite (which will be regifted to a friend of mine but I will continue to use it until then) - on December 30 in the late afternoon.  In the end it was just yoga, some facial Reflexology, and smooching with Mowgli - oh, which by the way is not called cheating, it's called pet therapy ;-) - in between.  He was lazying about nearby on one of his couches after his afternoon walk to the dog run.  I felt very relaxed afterward, and I have absolutely no recollection of what else happened that evening which may mean that I was in for the night....
